My father knew John Hamper from the 1950s and helped him early in his career. John is an acclaimed artist and his paintings are much sort after. He was holding one of his exhibitions in West Wittering, West Sussex on Friday. Although it is many years since they saw each other I took my parents to meet John and his family before the exhibition started. Although it was a long journey for them (they’ve recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary) they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I was told that it had made their day.
