Richard Durrant, concert guitarist, held another Candlelight Christmas concert at Woolbeding Church (near Midhurst, Sussex) last night. This church dates from Saxon times and has no electricity. This is the third time we have been to one of his concerts here. The programme varies from traditional Christmas tunes, work by Bach, Sibelius, himself and his favorite composer Augstin Barrios Mangore. The closing song for the first half was the preview of a new nativity song by Richard called ‘This world needs to sing’ with his children, Daisy, Django and Felix providing the vocals.
I thought Richard was playing the best I’ve heard him although the standard was incredibly high to start with. I shall look forward to our next concert but in the meantime I shall enjoy his new CD ‘Hijo de Hombre’.
