Down House

Today we went to visit Down House in Downe, Kent. This is the former home of Charles Darwin (Origin of Species etc).

I was working it out that it is about 50 years since I used to deliver the newspapers here but this is the first time that I’ve been in the house. The newspapers were addressed to 2 Professors and I found out today that they were related to Charles Darwin.

The Mulberry Tree is nearly 200 years old and is in a poor state. English Heritage are trying to do what they can to recover and restore it using some landscape techniques.

Pity you can’t take photos inside the House.
