Lake and Peak Districts

Last week we went in our campervan to the Lake District followed by the Peak District. It rained most days but I did manage to take some photos. The house at the beginning is Wordsworth House (National Trust) in Cockermouth, Cumbria. Photos can be found at https://adobe.ly/2A52FRm

Prostate Cancer

For about 15 years I had regular PSA blood tests. Some time ago there were concerns that the PSA level was rising. Towards the end of last year a biopsy showed that I had the early stages of Prostate Cancer. I showed none of the usual symptoms of Prostate Cancer. 3 months ago I had an operation to remove the prostate. I can report back that the operation was classified (by the consultant) as a “complete success”. I can now get back (gradually) to doing my usual hobbies etc. So the message to all middle age or older males is to make sure that you have regular PSA blood tests.

Nuffield Place

Last Friday, on the way to the Fine Arts Trade Guild workshops in Stratford upon Avon, we stopped at Nuffield Place (
https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nuffield-place ), Oxfordshire. Some photos from the visit can be found at https://adobe.ly/2w9G5W4 .

Lord Nuffield established the Morris Motor Company (e.g. Morris Minor) in Cowley, Oxfordshire. Although he became rich, he and his wife seem to have lived in modest circumstances. He seemed to be very benevolent and among his generous gifts he supplied iron lungs (for polio victims etc). He was responsible to establishing Nuffield Clinics and Hospitals.
